Buzzard Bushcraft was formed in 2009 when a couple of friends with a passion for natural history, the great outdoors and especially primitive living skills, decided to form a club to preserve these skills as well as encourage and promote them to a world that is becoming ever more fast paced and corporate.
We believe in having a healthy respect for nature with the realisation that a person can survive comfortably in the wild as long as they have the right knowledge and skills, these being the essentials of fire, food, shelter and water, the adage ” the more you know the less you need carry” is very true.
We are very experienced individuals having spent nearly all our lives practising these skills and studying at some of the most respected Bushcraft and Survival schools in the UK. Our passion comes from passing on this knowledge and hopefully gaining some in return.
We take only memories and leave only footprints.
This course will be run as two separate days, but any participants wanting to go on both days will gain a deeper insight and understanding of the skills involved in Bushcraft.
On the day we intend to give each participant a brief insight into the four essential elements of Fire, Food, Shelter and Water, we will also find out how to achieve each of these goals using the 5 C’s of Survivability.
Everyone will have the opportunity to make fire using primitive, traditional and modern methods and using a variety of tinders.
We will look at water collection and purification methods. We will also go on a wild food walk and talk about what plants and animals would be available as a food source should we need to rely on them in a survival situation and also touch on herbal teas, plant medicine and we will also do some simple campfire cooking!
We will build a shelter using only the debris found on the forest floor, one that would help keep the elements at bay and keep us alive should the need ever arise! We will also discuss safety and good camp practise.
This will be a fun and interactive session, so be preapred to get your hands dirty! There will also be some tips, tricks and challenges throughout the day!
